All the same faces

X is obsessed with someone dead, all their servants in their mansion/castle, are made from the same mold of the one they obsess about. 

different models have different tasks. 

Hive mind? - only to an extend, the servants need to have a vague sense of self, even if they can't override it.

what killed the real one?

Revolt?

What if the story begins after there as been a revolt, and out main character meets the models left after the complete destruction of the mansion, there to - either capture and bring the models to destruction, perhaps just report it? 

there has to be some models left to tell the tale.

do they still carry out their tasks with a corpse?
